Barb was born in Windsor and raised in Chesley, Ontario. She relocated to Kitchener and graduated from Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1959. In her nursing career, Barb worked at Simcoe General Hospital and at K-W Hospital (now Grand River Hospital) in both the Emergency Department and in Delivery and Nursery. She loved unconditionally, listened without judgment, and welcomed all into her home as part of the family. As the ultimate hostess and organizer, Barb loved planning and holding social gatherings. Barb took great pride and pleasure in "Coffee Klatsch," the monthly get-together of her 1959 graduating classmates. For the last forty-eight years, "Buff" and her sisters in nursing have sustained an unwavering friendship built on lively conversation, laughter, loyalty and support. Cremation has taken place. Barb's family will receive relatives and friends at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel , 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Barb's life will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
