Hi,
I have some Russwurm ancestors from Thuringia, the earliest being Ludwig Russwurm (d.1656) and his son Georg Russwurm (1616-1694, from Tabarz). And according to this map, the name may have come from that region rather than from Alsace, although it is difficult to be certain.
